Things To Do - Places To Eat

We recommend:

The Durham Ox, Crayke:

Superb Pub/Restaurant. Great Landlord (Mike Ibbotson). Very friendly and welcome well-behaved kids. All food is freshly prepared to order. Local game, fresh fish and seafood are daily specialities.

Great Sunday lunch, the traditional Rib of Yorkshire Beef and Yorkshire puddings, as well as fresh fish and other dishes.

Real ales, as well as an eclectic wine list ranging from a large selection of house wines from £10.50 a bottle to prize vintages at around £250 per bottle.

The Star Inn, Harome

Simply superb. Since 1996, Andrew and Jacquie Pern, from the local area, have taken the Star to new heights as a Michelin-rated gastronomic oasis. Yet it retains all its village friendliness, its ancient timbers steeped in 600 years of hospitality.
